What is the timeline for creating a custom suit?
4-6 weeks minimum from design to completion. However, The Sewing Elves stay very busy throughout the year. Depending on current projects, your suit may not be started immediately after initiating the design process.
What is included in a “full suit”?
A typical full suit consists of a hat, jacket, and pants. All pants are fully lined, made with an adjustable elastic waist, and include two extra deep side pockets. All jackets are fully lined and include two interior pockets. Hats are made with extra magic so you can see the body of the hat above the fur when worn.
Do you have any suits ready to ship?
Not currently, but we are in the early phases of starting a trade in program. Clients interested in upgrading to a new custom suit could receive a discount when giving The Sewing Elves their old suit. Discounts will vary depending on the condition of the trade in.
What makes your suits unique?
The Sewing Elves are known for their detachable fur feature on all jackets and hats. No more pink fur after sending your suit to the cleaner! Remove your fur and wash at home.
What is the deposit amount for starting a custom suit?
50% of total cost. Full suits typically range $1,500 - $2,500. Costs vary depending on fabric, accessories, and embellishments. Deposits are non-refundable as they cover the cost of materials.
How should I wash the detachable fur?
Detach fur from garment. Hand wash or use gentle/delicate cycle with Woolite in cold water. Air dry or machine dry on air fluff with no heat. Reattach fur to garment and brush to fluff if needed. A wire dog brush works beautifully!
Can I just purchase a hat, vest, or shirt?
Yes, of course! The Sewing Elves will create any custom item, big or small. Items can even be created to match a current suit not made by The Sewing Elves - just send us a photo or part of the suit so we can match the fabric.
What embellishments and additional features do you offer?
Vests can be made with an exterior watch pocket. Can’t decide on just one fabric? Vest can also be made to be reversible. We offer special reindeer buttons and embroidered gold trim. Need more pockets? Just ask!
How can I be sure my suit will fit?
Once we begin the design process we will send you a measurement chart to complete. If you are unsure about doing the measurements yourself you can always come by the workshop in North Alabama. Some tuxedo rental companies will take measurements for you if you can’t make it to a fitting.
